Sean Rutter

If you are reading this, it might be because something caught your eye or you

might be thinking about purchasing something, or perhaps you just wanted to

see who I am? In any case, thank you!

I am a self-taught artist and as I hope you see from my work, I like to paint/draw a

broad range of subjects in different styles. I like to do different things, especially once

I feel I have achieved what I wanted to do with a series. Whilst I could go back and

paint the same sort of picture 100 times, I'm afraid I find that a bit boring

(and not very authentic).

I tend to paint places I love (both real and imagined). These places range from bustling cities like Edinburgh, London and Oxford (my home for a decade) to dramatic mountainscapes, rugged coasts and the fictional world of Middle Earth (from the works of JRR Tolkien). 

​

My style is my own - I consider myself a bit of a rule-breaker! I don't follow any formulae or 'tried and tested' techniques when painting. What I come up with is a unique result of my own experimentation. 

My work is a little piece of me on a canvas. Art is my escape from the ordinary day-to-day life. I have a busy job working in schools, so I find my creativity comes in big bursts (especially during school holidays!).
